  1. Could you perhaps clarify why you believe your sockets are malfunctioning? Are the cigarette lighters malfunctioning, or is the device you are plugging into the socket not activating? I inquire because BMW employs varying socket sizes in some cars; refer to the information below on the two distinct 12v socket dimensions. By the way, did BMW exclude the fuse diagram in the back fuse box, unlike earlier generations?
  2. Symmetrical was the term that my mind was seeking. That is the aspect of the cover that requires evaluation. It appears that each component has a distinct part number for LHD or RHD, which implies that the overall part has a specific design for each location. However, if the cover is symmetrical, it could likely be exchanged. It would be comparable to the exterior side mirror housings as opposed to the mirror glass. The mirror housings are different for LHD vs RHD, as they are not symmetrical and are angled and positioned specifically for the driver's point of view. However, the mirror glass (mounted inside the housing) is symmetrical, allowing for the use of any combination of plain, convex, or aspherical mirror glass in an LHD or RHD vehicle.
  3. Simply access the door handle diagram on a website such as www.realoem.com and verify that the cover contains the identical part number. The supplemental column can be used to determine whether the car data is specific to LHD or RHD, or if it can be used on either side. I am unable to determine the exact appearance of the items; however, they may be reversible or mirrored, with each side having its own cover, similar to the left and right hands of an individual.
