The Dorman component fits; now I must reassemble the lamp without damaging the fragile parts.

E-bay has these, and AutoZone seems to have a "Dorman" product, which I presume is aftermarket.

Excellent contributions from everyone. I support you and show respect to the OEM. I really like the OEM honeycomb that was included with my B8.5 RS5. The Euro Black Optic may provide a little enhancement at most. It is unfortunate that Audi did not provide a factory honeycomb OEM option for the first generation R8.

Contemplating the substitution of the original equipment manufacturer front grille on a generation 1.5 V10 with an aftermarket honeycomb variant. I like the honeycomb design while also valuing genuine OEM aesthetics. What is your opinion?

I would consider an annual frequency to be reasonable. Unless you are exposed to very low or high temperatures for extended periods of time when your vehicle is parked outdoors and covered in snow for half of the year. Then, why not do it twice?
