Engine misfire

Recommended Posts

I have been attempting to resolve an issue I am experiencing. I am experiencing a misfire in cylinder 7 and intermittent out-of-range readings in cylinder 6, yet my scanner does not classify it as a misfire. I have replaced the spark plugs and ignition wires. The Foxwell N710 scanner continues to display the same misfires. Approximately two months ago, I replaced the camshaft position sensor. Uncertain whether that is relevant. I still get intermittent delayed starts. I have just replaced the oil and filter.
I am attempting to ascertain if it is the coil pack. Are there any more suggestions from those experiencing similar challenges? I am an inexperienced mechanic willing to do any work.

Kindly take a minute to revise your user profile using the following information.

1.) Specific model and model year of your Mercedes-Benz
2.) The presence or absence of 4MATIC
3.) Your geographical location globally

We want this since MB offered certain choices only on particular models, during designated years, in select countries, and our membership is multinational. This information is essential for providing accurate advice. "Why not include that information in my post?" Indeed, individuals engage in that practice; nevertheless, threads may get extensive, and users may not consistently browse through the whole of the thread to obtain information on your vehicle. Incorporating the profile facilitates our ability, as members, to identify the specific model, year, and country under discussion. It is regarded as "good manners" in this area.

In conclusion, we believe you will find our community of Mercedes-Benz owners to be very enjoyable, since many members, myself included, do their own maintenance and assist one another whenever possible.

I consider exchanging the coil packs across cylinders to see whether the misfire transfers.

If that occurs, the issue is with the coil pack. If it fails to operate, inspect for vacuum leaks and verify if the MAF is within specifications.
It may be beneficial to get the SDS, since it will indicate what falls within the predicted ranges and what does not.
