silver6933
I purchased Gen 2 wheels for my Gen 1, however the tires were older, and the rear tires were 315/30/20. It was suggested that the bigger rear tires might potentially damage the front differential of my Gen 1. I have decided to purchase new tires of the appropriate dimensions: 245/30/20 (front) and 305/25/20 (rear). I am examining Tire Rack, and the subsequent alternatives in this size for a set of four are as follows: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S - $1906.96 Hankook Ventus V12 EVO2 - $1187.96 Toyo Proxes Sport - $1,068.64 I have little experience with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on my Gen 1, since they were placed on my R8 upon purchase at 5,600 miles, and they did not last beyond 10,000 miles despite my moderate driving style. I substituted them with Continental Contis and have really enjoyed them. They are unavailable in the required size for the Gen 2 models. Are Hankook or Toyo tires of high quality? I will purchase the Michelins if the other two are not endorsed. I have Michelin Pilot tires on both of my Teslas: the Model X Plaid (1020 HP) and the Model S, and the performance of the Michelins has been exceptional on both vehicles. I just did not like them on my R8. Kindly provide comments and recommendations. Thank you!
DanDare
I do not anticipate a high-performance tire to last beyond 10,000 to 15,000 miles on vehicles such as ours. My Pirelli P Zero tires lasted around 12,000 miles. What was the lifespan of your Conti Continental Contis?
silver6933
PS4S has less than 10,000 miles, but the Continentals have shown equivalent performance and greater longevity. I did not engage in any spirited driving, nevertheless they still did not endure for a considerable duration. Conversely, Contis has performed very well. I am uncertain about Pzeros since I have never experienced them.
bossyriver
If you do not engage in spirited driving, your alignment may be misaligned, resulting in rapid wear of a pair of Michelin tires.
MelonCrush23
I recommend the Mucho Macho tires, since they seem to be excellent.

VeinedPoncho
I visited a dealership last week to examine a standard S4 model. Upon seeing the Ventus V12 tires, I departed immediately.
silver6933
Conversely, the S4 may have been used in regular conditions rather than subjected to abuse.
VeinedPoncho
My assertion is that I would not install V12 tires on an S4, much less on a R8. I was seeking inexpensive tires for my drift E36 beater.
silver6933
Thank you for your feedback. Are Continentals available in the size 305/25/20? I am unable to locate them. The front ones are there, but the rear ones are absent.
Grubscrew
My original equipment Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires have around 7/32" of tread remaining, and I have driven about 10,600 miles. Am I exerting sufficient effort when driving?
silver6933
Thank you. They may have improved them. My experience with Michelins on the R8 occurred five years ago. They have performed very well on both of my Teslas. I will purchase the R8 once again and attempt it again, since I lack other viable choices.
