AstronomyFan
It has been reported that 1.5 million automobiles are implicated in this recall. I am inquisitive: What is the appearance of the faulty component(s)? Can this be held in the palm of your hand, or is it the whole system? What portion of the vehicle must be dismantled for repair or replacement? In which areas of most cars are the damaged components situated? Inquisitive individuals seek knowledge. SkiJunkie
The figure of 1.5 million is global; earlier, only the amount for the United States seemed to be referenced. The following are the steps for replacement on an X5, which should provide insight into the process required.
AstronomyFan
Impressive! This seems to be a very time-intensive task. What criteria are used to ascertain which automobiles need this procedure?
SkiJunkie
It need a few hours, I believe. Initially, they used a broad approach and then focused on manufacturing and supplier records to ascertain which cars were equipped with an out-of-specification or acceptable component. BikeMechanic
According to my BMW service center, it is a full-day job. Require the removal of the brake lines and flushing procedures.
AstronomyFan
I cannot help but contemplate the extent to which the "repairs" are executed poorly, thereby resulting in further complications.

WebWizard
Numerous stories are available online regarding the financial impact BMW is experiencing due to the brake recall and cease sale. The papers indicate that the "fix" is software designed to alert the driver in advance on any issues with the IBS.Should a motorist get the notice, they would theoretically have sufficient time to reach a service facility for repairs.I do not believe that BMW is systematically substituting a component with a failure rate of less than 1% across 1.5 million cars. This was similarly executed in Australia. My further understanding is that the program will be launched on September 19th.Kindly share your perspective if anybody has an other interpretation of the issue. SkiJunkie
The "fix" mentioned online pertains to some European and other nations that will permit the defective IBS under their legislation. The United States does not, and the solution for the cease sale will include a component replacement and a software update to circumvent the 170-mile stipulation of the recall remedy. ZenMaster
I can only speak for Switzerland. The program would indicate a malfunction, prompting BMW to take appropriate action. That is what my dealer informed me. Is this justifiable? That is an excellent inquiry. If the failure is not abrupt, such as a complete brake failure, then what may account for it, such as a progressive decline in pressure?

TattooArtist
One week ago, my VIN indicated a recall for the wiring harness HV cable on my 2024 i7. As of today, September 15, my VIN does not indicate the wire harness recall; nevertheless, it now reflects the concerning worldwide brake recall impacting half of BMW's range. What on earth? Has anybody else recently received the brake recall notification after an extended period without it?
SkiJunkie
Several hundred thousand individuals are similarly affected, since the recall was expanded last month to include a greater number of items.
