KixBulwark
The plastic components and connections inside the panel for the trunk release and window controls are all fractured. Attempts to drill and use longer screws were unsuccessful. Aside from these plastic fittings, the panel is acceptable. However, my technician informs me that we must replace the complete panel, which costs around $1200 for the panel alone. Do you have any recommendations for securely installing these controls? Has anybody else encountered this issue? Is the panel for 2007 distinct from that of 2003-2006? Thank you.
partexpat
Examine eBay; they provide door switches and whole door cards at far lower prices, which are also simple to change independently. Numerous YouTube videos are available. Crucially, ensure the removal of the bolt located beneath the plastic SRS emblem prior to detaching the door panel; failure to do so may result in its breakage (albeit this is not the most detrimental outcome). I trust this information is beneficial.
partexpat
Removing the door panel and disconnecting the wires will cause the windows to descend, providing clearance from the roof, similar to the action of entering and exiting the vehicle; thus, avoid doing this task outside on a wet day. VeinedPoncho
The situation with the window perplexes me; when the aluminum trim is removed to extract the door cart, the window fails to ascend fully until all components are reassembled entirely. KixBulwark
I am managing the repercussions of an individual who mishandled the task. The components are already damaged.
misstki
Likely not a defective execution; they are a common failure associated with substandard German plastic. I have fabricated repair components that accommodate the screws and glide over the fractured stubs. I do a dry fit, followed by applying epoxy and pressing it down to the correct height.
