captainharras
I want to do an xdelete on my vehicle and need information on the power capacity of the rear differential before failure occurs. Intending to detach the front differential and the accompanying axles.
tomatoeincluding
Your score is 328. Insufficient power may be generated on that platform to cause the differential to explode. What is the rationale for using time and resources to disassemble the front differential and axles?
captainharras
Primarily due to my capability. I thought the differential would possess the strength to endure it, although I would like to ascertain its capability rather than discover its inadequacy after the fact. I intend to do the majority of the task alone. Replace the oil pan, remove the axles, and seal the transfer case. I will either use xdelete or a shop to convert it to rear-wheel drive. It would be beneficial to ascertain the threshold, irrespective of my ability to reach it, for future reference.

recklessX
Once again, but for what reason? Merely because you are capable? I intentionally purchased all my BMWs with xDrive. I used xDelete many times on my F33 but saw no discernible difference when using BM3 stage 1. It proved advantageous when I had a flat tire and installed my 18" summer tires on the rear while using my 17" winter tires on the front until I could get a replacement tire (the winter tire was severely damaged). captainharras
I did not purchase the automobile myself. The automobile was a present from my parents. I have had the automobile for a few years and want a more enjoyable driving experience; yet, I do not see the rationale in spending substantial funds only to get rear-wheel drive. I am satisfied with the power; I only want a rear-wheel-drive configuration since I am really fond of that automobile. I acknowledge that it is not the most superior engine available. I changed the timing chain around 20,000 miles ago.
1apissugar
I appreciate your ability to convey complexity with simplicity. Even with xdelete, the removal of the front axles will not provide favorable results. Something will detonate, and it will not be the back differential. Furthermore, there is no concept of a "rwd tune"; the actual drivetrain remains xDrive. I was mistaken on one occasion; thus, I wish you good fortune. captainharras
In what manner? I am also removing the front differential. I am changing the oil pan since the differential flows through it. It is not only a matter of extracting the CV axles as you imply.
grubscrewster
If you really choose to pursue the rear-wheel drive and high power (for a four-cylinder) option, you may as well replace it with a rear-wheel drive transmission. Retaining the transfer case increases rotational mass and introduces more components that may fail when operating at the limits.
captainharras
Indeed, it is the current strategic strategy; but, I am not yet prepared to pursue that power trajectory, since it serves as my daily vehicle. I was considering a six-speed manual transmission, but I have heard that those in this vehicle are subpar. Do you have any advice about transgender individuals? I am aware that I can get a bell housing adapter and related components.
VeinedPoncho
Why not just get a rear-wheel-drive BMW 3 or 4 series? The aforementioned task seems very burdensome, and it is probable that certain aspects may fail promptly. Will save your time, alleviate distress, and, most crucially, reduce expenses.
