JayB
Any members out there utilize a vehicle cover? Please offer any advice or tips for buying and purchasing one. I own a 2018 Gen 2 R8 and want to get a vehicle cover for enhanced protection and to maintain cleanliness when it is at home. I reside on a hilltop, where the updraft carries various leaves and dust from the lower elevations. It is often astonishing that as soon as the garage door opens, leaves and debris immediately enter, making it impossible to prevent the intrusion of the elements. As the rainy season starts, I want to prevent the dripping from the garage door onto the vehicle during its opening and shutting. I understand the extra protection from any dents and bumps is another great feature of certain coverings. Kindly provide any suggestions or advice. Thank you in advance
bossyriver
It seems you need an outside cover with a soft liner. It is advisable to seek shelter.monarch
MokweleScoop
If you value your paint, refrain from using a vehicle cover. You are only inviting scratches. Only washing should ever come into contact with your paint. I do not even dry my autos with a towel. I use a blow dryer. A superior option is a Car Capsule. Their cost is around $2000, although they are well justified by the security they provide. It resembles a protective enclosure for your vehicle. Prevents the ingress of dust, rodents, dampness, filth, pollen, and similar contaminants. I maintain one in my garage, allowing me to park my R8 there whenever I intend to leave it unused for an extended period. It is equipped with a HEPA filter that purifies the air prior to its introduction into the bubble. I use a Showcase, which is appropriate for indoor parking. They also produce outdoor variants. JayB
I just researched the capsule, and it is rather impressive. Was unaware that such capsules or bubbles existed.
MokweleScoop
I acquired mine mostly for the severe pollen season here. I just encapsulate the vehicle for a month, and it emerges pristine.
EpicTraveler
I own the OEM Audi outdoor cover (silver), which is composed of a very thin, tent-like material, making it simple to remove dust after leaving it for many weeks. The cloth variants tend to accumulate dust when rolled up.
GreenThumb
Concurrently, my R8 has been stationed in an arbitrary airport for the last week.
MokweleScoop
On one occasion, I was required to park my BMW at the Orlando airport for a duration of one week. I left it in the covered parking garage, believing this was preferable than leave it in long-term outside parking. Significant error. I overlooked the substantial drain pipe positioned over my vehicle. The birds preferred to perch on the pipe throughout the night. Upon my return, my automobile was encrusted with around 30 pounds of avian excrement. The automobile was covered in such a substantial layer of debris that it resembled a rigid shell. There was resistance while attempting to open the doors, akin to the difficulty experienced when trying to access a vehicle parked outdoors after freezing rain. I almost needed a chisel. It is no exaggeration; in the majority of areas, paint was almost invisible.
